Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge assessments: online quizzes, multiple-choice questions, matching and true or false activities, research projects, presentations, creative projects
Skills assessments: critical reflection activities and reflective journals, programming, planning and implementing curriculum tasks
Practical skills assessments: practical demonstrations such as implementing experiences and routines

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

This course is for a mainstream group that would prefer a combination of face to face classes at Miller campus and some virtual or online delivery. Work placement must be within the Western Sydney region Fairfield / Liverpool LGA’s.
It is full-time day course (12 months), with a 3 days per week theory program, for 36 delivery weeks, over 4 school terms. The work placement however, will be 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
It would be best suited to a learner who is able to commit to 3 days per work on campus and/virtual classroom study. This delivery can easily be coupled with 2 days per week working in the sector. You will need to be available to work a 5 day week during work placement. Your campus may have the opportunities for you to engage with potential employers.
Learners will require regular access to, and have the ability to use a computer, internet and printer. This could be either be your personal device or can be accessed to your local campus.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 , including 12 core and 3 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
TAFE NSW Miller is a quiet and relaxed campus located on Hoxton Park Road, just off the M7 in Sydney’s south west. With facilities designed to simulate real-world situations and working environments, TAFE NSW Miller provides students with the opportunity to apply their skills in a practical way. Like the Building and Construction Faculty, which features beautiful timber panelling, stained glass windows and painted ceiling rosettes that have all been skilfully restored by talented TAFE NSW students.
