Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of counsellors, who work with clients on personal and psychological issues using established counselling modalities. They use communication, micro-counselling and interviewing skills and draw on varied counselling therapies to assist clients. At this level, the counsellor will be working in defined and supported counselling roles in established agencies rather than in independent practice.

No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

This is a Smart & Skilled VSL offering, all students must comply with the terms of both Smart & Skilled and the VSL process.
This qualification is suitable for those wanting to work within the Community Services sector and for those planning to continue into tertiary studies within humanities.
Please attend the orientation on both Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th of July at 10:00am, at TAFE NSW Macquarie Fields, in Building H, Level G, Room 14 - 16.

Proposed Attendance: Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00am to 2:30pm, as well as Online Learning on Wednesdays. 21 hours per week for 1 year.

This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.
