This course is currently scheduled on Monday and Thursday from 5.00pm to 9.00pm, and Wednesday from 3.00pm to 9.00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Skills assessments: role-play scenarios, presentations, practical, observation (including assessments in the workplace)
Knowledge assessments: multiple choice, true or false, short answer questions
Case study: case study scenario, reflection
Portfolio: samples of work in a workplace environment
Project: report, research-based project, journal, essay
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

If you are a prior student undertaking any work placement or volunteer work that has been organised as part of the requirements of the Diploma in Mental Health, the WWCC is to be verified through the Office of the Children’s Guardian by TAFE NSW and stored on file.
Organisations that agree to offer work placements must also be provided with the your WWCC and reminded of their obligation to check the validity of the provided WWCC.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Mental Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 20 units of competency, including 15 core and 5 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
