Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • You may be required to purchase a recommended text at a cost of up to $100. Learners are responsible for gaining their National Police Check and Working with Children Check. Learners will need access to a computer and internet and relevant stationery for study such as pens, note book, thumb drive, etc. Learners will need suitable attire for Work Placement.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that learners should have literacy and numeracy skills to a Diploma level of study. Learners will be provided with the R U Ready screening to determine their literacy and numeracy levels.

  • To gain this qualification the learner is required to complete 100 hours in a community services organisation.

  • To participate in the work placement requirement of the qualification the learner will need to provide a current and clear National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Mental Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 20 units of competency, including 15 core and 5 speciality units.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
