Course Details

The nationally recognised Certificate II in Construction creates a strong foundation for you to excel in the building industry. You will develop essential construction skills as you explore the industry and gain hands-on training as a labourer before entering your apprenticeship qualification.

Through theoretical and practical course work, you will learn to:

  • Plan and organise construction work
  • Carry out measurements and calculations
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Use hand and power tools and equipment
  • Carry out concreting to simple forms

To be eligible for this course you must:

  • Be employed in the construction industry, evidenced by a letter of support from your employer, as this course is delivered in the workplace
  • Have a signed traineeship contract

A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work in NSW. This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
