The nationally accredited Certificate IV in Building Construction (Building) will give you the skills you to own and operate a licensed building enterprise. Designed for aspiring builders and construction managers, you will take your building expertise further and graduate with an industry-relevant qualification in this booming industry.

As population growth drives employment in the residential construction sector, in both new dwellings and renovations, the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) will give you what you need to meet demand.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

TAFE NSW offers the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) as either a traineeship or non-traineeship, so you can?construct?the career you want.

Non-traineeship

There are no entry requirements for non-trainees. You can enrol in this course now.

Traineeship

To be eligible for this course you must:

  • Be employed in the building and construction industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
  • Have a signed traineeship contract

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

It is important to know that to be eligible to apply for your NSW Builders Licence, you must have completed a trade certificate in the Certificate III in Carpentry or Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, as well as the Certificate IV in Building Construction (Building).

Completion of these qualifications will lead to a builders licence with NSW Fair-trading.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time day face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 36 weeks.

You may also be required to complete approximately 20.1 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including assignment preparation, research assessment tasks, private study.

This course offering is designed for people who:

  • Will be provided with an occupational outcome and a range of support tasks applicable to a majority of construction work sites. The qualification has core units of competency that are required in many Certificate IV qualifications. The elective options are structured Department of Fair Trading Builders Licence Qualification Requirements.
