Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of geographic information system (GIS) technicians who work under supervision to support a spatial information services team. They perform a range of duties using various geospatial technologies, including global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and specialised geospatial software.

No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of endorsement.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

This course is delivered in accordance with the Training package requirements for CPP07 training Package. All students will be required to attend the campus for residential blocks as part of the course.

Due to the nature of the blended delivery, it is advised that all students undertaking this course are working in industry and have good computing skills.

Typically students undertaking this qualification are working in the industry and use GIS as part of their job role. Alternatively students may have studied some GIS subjects at university and would like more practical experience with the software. The Certificate IV Spatial Information Services is a mid-level qualification for the spatial information industry. This qualification combines practical skills associated with managing and analysing spatial information. Once they have completed this course they may wish to go on to further study including:

? TAFE NSW has a pathway into University of Southern Queensland (USQ)?s Surveying and Spatial Sciences degree.
Career opportunities include: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager, Survey assistant, Natural Resource Management Officer, Cartographer, Emergency Services, Local and State Government, Public Safety.
Delivery of this course will commence in February 2019. Learners will be contacted by teaching staff and provided with an access link and key to the on-line learning management system (Moodle). It is MANDATORY to attend the one week block
