Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in administrative roles across a range of arts organisations, such as galleries, museums, theatres and community arts centres.

**COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS**
To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have an understanding of:

  • the creative industry with regards to local performances, exhibitions and events

  • fundamental creative business ideas

  • how an arts administration course may assist your career prospects

    To successfully complete this course, you will need to commit to:

  • attending classes during the day, 2 days a week, 8 hours a day

  • completing a minimum of 10 hours of assessment work per week

  • participating in a minimum of 8 hours of industry engagement per week; this may include researching funding opportunities, attending exhibitions, markets and events, reviewing cultural activities and visiting and networking various arts organisations

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a full time day course. You will need to attend approximately 16 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 18.3 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 8.3 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including researching funding opportunities, attending exhibitions, markets and events, reviewing cultural activities and visiting and networking various arts organisations.

  • develop business skills and apply these skills to the creative and cultural industries
  • learn how to communicate with artists and cultural organisations
  • facilitate cultural events
  • work with creative teams
  • manage creative projects
  • are aged over 16
  • have recently left school, changing study options from academic study to vocational training, or between jobs and wanting to transition to a new career

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
