This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are developing a broad range of technical and conceptual design skills and who take responsibility for own outputs in work and learning. Practice at this level is underpinned by the application of introductory design theory and history.

Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (Textile Design and Printing)

This is an introductory design course for the Textile Design & Printing industries and will provide a pathway into further studies in Certificate IV in Design (Textile Design & Printing). You will gain foundational skills in illustration, colour theory, design principles, fabric print design, Computer Aided Design specific for fabric print design, as well as some textile industry knowledge.
The fabric printing stream targets an important niche sector in the design industry, namely the designer, printer who develops and prints their own designs on base cloths for a variety of end uses, including the fashion and or furnishing sectors.

In addition to your classes on campus, you should expect to do at least 6 hours per week of activities which may include study, participation in in-house events, exhibitions and other required course related activities.
