The nationally accredited Certificate III in Design Fundamentals prepares you to start a career in the creative industries. Specialise in your creative passion, get your foot in the door of the design industry, and develop the foundational skills to bring your artistic vision to life.

Traineeship

  • Be employed inthe design industry as this course is delivered in the workplace

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Some limited experience in visual arts or design technology, either at school or self-taught

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To be able to successfully complete this course, you will need:

Access to a computer or laptop with appropriate software required to complete the assessment events. Your teacher will outline the software specifications within the first week of class.
If you do not have this access the sections college computers with appropriate software are available for use during class time and between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. The Library computers are also available to enrolled students between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

A kit list is provided with a list of basic requirements such as sketch book, pens, pencils, USB

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a Full Time course. You will need to attend approximately 18 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for I8 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 14.7 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 5.6 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, researchp and assignment preparation.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
