Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of competencies in a varied work context in the music industry, using some discretion and judgement and theoretical knowledge. They may provide support to a team. This qualification provides for the specialisation in Performance. Licensing/Regulatory Information ------------------------------------- National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work Sets and staging for some performances or events may fall within the definition of construction work. If so, people entering the construction site are required to complete the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (Australian Safety Compensation Council, May 2007). Achievement of the unit 'CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry' from the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package fulfils this requirement.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.


This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to Sydney TAFE and the government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance)

In this course you will gain knowledge and skills for playing your instrument and/or singing, performing live, writing songs, music theory, demoing songs, working in the music business and more.

You should plan to spend approximately one hour of your own time for every hour of ?face to face? training per week on projects and research, additional to class activities.
You will need to attend approximately 16 hours of class over 3 days a week for 1 semester. Indicative timetable: Monday and Thursday, 9:30am to 4:30pm; plus Tuesday, 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Finalised timetables will be available in July 2018.
