This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural arts context and produce work that shows a well-developed command of technique in their chosen art form.

Practice at this level is underpinned by application of broad and integrated technical and theoretical knowledge and the ability to analyse and use information from a range of sources.

It is assumed that you have literacy, numeracy and technical skills at Certificate III level for success in this course. Contact your TAFE NSW campus if you have any questions about your suitability.

To be enrolled in this course, students need to have successfully completed the Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts, prior to enrolling in Certificate IV Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a face to face full time course. You will need to attend approximately 24.4 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 4.2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including practice, research, assignment preparation and private study.

This course offering is designed for people who work in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural arts context and produce work that shows a well-developed command of technique in their chosen art form. This course is delivered face to face. Some will be studying to follow a career as a professional artist. Other options also include work in schools as artists in residence, gallery assistants, and cultural arts workshop providers.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
