This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a broad range of technical and conceptual design skills.

Practice at this level is underpinned by the application of integrated technical and theoretical knowledge and the ability to develop concepts and solutions in response to a brief.

Design for Film and Theatre is the focus of this offering of the CUA40715 Certificate IV in Design. This intensive 6 month course provides a broad based integrated learning experience with an emphasis on design for live production including film, theatre and events. Learners will explore colour and media, drawing, computers for design, graphic design, film appreciation and camera techniques, presentation techniques, design research, introduction to film and video, SFX prosthetics and makeup with major projects exploring product/industrial design, architecture/interior design, set design, costume/fashion, textiles and illustration. Learners will have the benefit of being taught in a well-equipped design environment at the award winning Design Centre Enmore by industry professionals, working on fabulous and innovative projects such as VIVID Sydney 2017 and 2018, annual collaborations with IKEA and the Enmore Theatre and being a part of the much celebrated Sydney Mardi Gras parade.

In addition to your classes on campus, you should expect to do at least 7 hours per week of study including, research, projects, pre and post class reading.

People may enter this qualification with limited or no vocational experience and without a lower level qualification although Certificate III Design Fundamentals CUA30715 is desirable.

You will need to attend 18 hours of class over 4 days per week for 1 semester.This course is typically offered between Tuesday to Friday (4 days per week approx 4.5 hours per day).
