Practice at this level is underpinned by the application of integrated technical and theoretical knowledge and the ability to develop concepts and solutions in response to a brief.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (FASHION DESIGN) or equivalent is a pre-requisite for this course. Application requires teacher assessment.
You will build on your exisiting skills in illustration and life drawing, fashion design, CAD specific for fashion practice, as well as a comprehensive introduction to fashion industry knowledge and some basic sewing and patternmaking to create a prototype.
This course has a holistic delivery and comprises a major project completed across a number of subjects where students are required to create a new fashion label and design a capsule range for this brand.
You will look at market segments and positioning and present your brand to a panel complete with design, illustrations, technical sketches and spec sheets complied in a CAD produced booklet.
In dddition to your classes on campus, you should expect to do at least 6 hours per week of activities which may include study, participation in in-house events, exhibitions and other required course related activities.
