Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in music performance, sound production or music business contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

This qualification provides for the specialisation in Sound Production.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work
The National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work applies to persons performing dogging and rigging work. Completion of the following units is required for certification at either basic, intermediate or advanced levels:
CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging
CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic level
CPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate level
CPCCLRG4001A Licence to perform rigging advanced level.

National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work
Sets and staging for some performances or events may fall within the definition of construction work. If so, people entering the construction site are required to complete the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (Australian Safety Compensation Council, May 2007). Achievement of the unit CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry from the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package fulfils this requirement.

Note: This course provides a specialisation in Sound Production. Contact your local TAFE NSW if you wish to specialise in Performance or Music Business, or you want a generic (non-specialised) Certificate IV in Music Industry
There are formal no entry requirements for this qualification.

However the recommended pathways into the qualification are:
• CUA30915 Certificate III in Music Industry (Sound Production), or
• CUA31015 Certificate III in Screen and Media, or
• with some vocational experience, without a relevant lower level qualification.
You will be required to attend an information session on Tuesday 5th February at 11am in the Music section (L.2.22) at TAFE NSW Wollongong. This session will be used to explain the structure of the course, the timetable and student requirements.
This one-year course is suitable for those wishing to begin their journey in the Music Industry as a sound or audio practictioner. Students entering the course should have a keen interest in music/sound and be ready to develop skills in sound/audio related areas such as live sound, recording/mixing songs as well as working within the DAW environment to create songs or produce compositions.

Wednesday 9.30am-2.30pm. Thursday 9.30am-2.30pm and Friday 9.30am-2.30pm. Attend L Block, Level 2, Room 22.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Payment Plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

To activate your eligibility you must pay the student fee component PRIOR to commencement of the learning activity.
