Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of technical skills in photo imaging, including lighting, image capture, enhancements and manipulation and output.

Practice at this level is predominately digital. It is underpinned by the application of integrated technical, theoretical and historical knowledge of photo imaging and the ability to develop concepts and solutions in response to a brief.

Practitioners may work in a range of industry contexts, including retail, commercial, domestic portrait, media, wedding, illustrative, institutional and art photography.

Depending upon each student's existing skillset and experience self-directed study may be required. Wednesday 12.30pm to 3pm Learner support (optional).

A message for young people under 17 years of age - If you are under 17 years and wish to enrol you will need to have completed Year 10 or have special permission from school and TAFE NSW to do so.
This course will be delivered on Mondays, Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm & Wednesdays from 9am to12pm, Wednesday 12:30 to 2pm Tutorial, Face to face attendance for 16 hours per week for 33 weeks and 9 hours of prescribed self-paced activities.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

When your enrolment is complete, and you have paid the applicable fees, you will be entitled to attend class, participate in training, sit for examinations, receive educational awards, use amenities and services and receive an active TAFEcard (which provides access to library resources).

In addition to your course fee, there may be some additional charges to cover the costs of undertaking this training.

Costs associated with work experience and field trips such as food, transport and accommodation are at the students own expense.

It is preferable to purchase a Digital SLR after enrolling so teaching staff can provide the best advice for this course of study and your potential future needs. There may be costs associated with professional printing of your work
