Course Details
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of technical skills in photo imaging, including lighting, image capture, enhancements and manipulation and output.
Practice at this level is predominately digital. It is underpinned by the application of integrated technical, theoretical and historical knowledge of photo imaging and the ability to develop concepts and solutions in response to a brief.
Practitioners may work in a range of industry contexts, including retail, commercial, domestic portrait, media, wedding, illustrative, institutional and art photography.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:
- Enrolment Application is online and no pre-requisites or portfolio is required at this level.
To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- Learners are required to have basic literacy and numeracy skills and basic computer skills on entry to this course. These skills will be obtained at school level as all learners will have at least year 10 or equivalent. We require learners to sit an LLN assessment before the start of classes. If they do not have the required levels, we ask them to complete further preliminary study which adds to the volume of learning. The program has been developed for full time student and will be delivered over 18 weeks, 18 hours per week in class 3 days per week blended delivery (including workplace simulations). The delivery and content of this course has been discussed with industry who support the amount of hours of learning for this qualification. Other supervised activities include; (homework, excursions, exhibitions, field trips, industry talks, studio classes, Moodle forums, tasks & projects.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a full time, blended delivery course. You will need to attend approximately 18 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 8 hours of other study per week.
You may also be required to complete approximately 16 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study (homework), assignment preparation, work experience, field trips, exhibitions and research.

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID-19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. This course is currently scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am to 4:30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

A fee applies for most TAFE NSW courses and must be paid when you enrol. The amount you pay depends on the type of course you study, and on your personal circumstances. An initial payment of $80 is required to confirm your enrolment into this course. If you do not wish to continue with your enrolment, you must formally advise Customer Service of your withdrawal.
