Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use basic skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts in the screen, media and entertainment industries. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work

The National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work applies to persons performing dogging and rigging work. Completion of the following units is required for certification at either basic, intermediate or advanced levels:

  • CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging
  • CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic level
  • CPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate level
  • CPCCLRG4001A Licence to perform rigging advanced level.

National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work Sets and staging for some performances or events may fall within the definition of construction work. If so, people entering the construction site are required to complete the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (Australian Safety Compensation Council, May 2007). Achievement of the unit 'CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry' from the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package fulfils this requirement.

FILM and TV Production is the focus of this part-time evening Certificate IV of Screen and Media

You will gain skills and knowledge in directing, cinematography, camera operation, editing, screen writing, lighting, sound recording and overall producing. This course provides a pathway into the Diploma of Screen and Media focused on Film & TV Production. If you are going to start late, please email caroleanne.kirk@tafensw.edu.au.

In addition to attending classes, you can expect to do from 8 to 20 hours of work outside of class per week, depending on a range of factors such as prior experience.

You will need to attend approximately 12.75 hrs of class over 3 evenings per week for 36 weeks, (2 semesters); plus study and project work outside of class.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
