Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have highly specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills in visual communication to conceive, negotiate and realise design solutions.

Practice at this level is underpinned by the application of visual communication and design theory and history and the ability to critically analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources. Advanced communication, organisational and project management skills are also required.

Practitioners may work in many different commercial and community contexts across both print and digital media.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
To enter this qualification, individuals must provide evidence of their ability to:
- apply visual communication history and theory to own professional practice
- produce professional typography
- produce graphic designs for two-dimensional and three-dimensional applications
- create and manipulate graphics and design complex publication layouts

Skills and knowledge may have been acquired through graphic design work experience or through formal study.
In addition to your classes on campus, you should expect to do at least 7 hours per week of study including, research, projects, pre and post class reading.

ILLUSTRATION is the focus of this Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design.

The Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design (Illustration) is unique to the Design Centre Enmore.
Students will explore both tradition and contemporary digital Illustration techniques and skills delivered by some of Australia?s most respected Illustrators and artists.
Areas of instruction include the graphic novel, editorial, advertising, fashion, natural history, children?s books, story boarding, concept art, animation, graphic design and e books.
Graduates that have completed their Advanced Diploma might expect employment across a broad range of creative industries including professional and community arts, publishing, advertising, graphics, film and video practising as freelance Illustrators.

Applicants applying for the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design Illustration are required to submit a portfolio of original drawings and design work and should bring their work along to one of these portfolio sessions or make time to show their work by contacting

Include a minimum of 10 examples of work and/or sketchbooks and your previous qualifications (academic transcripts). You will be advised on your eligibility for the course at that time in consultation with your assessor.

You will need to attend approximately 15 to 16 hours of class over 3 days per week for 1 year. This course is typically offered between Tuesday and Friday, approx 5 hours per day.
