Course Details

This qualification is designed for individuals who require significant foundation skills support to access a vocational learning pathway.

The qualification is suitable for individuals who require:

  • a prevocational pathway to employment and vocational training
  • reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 1
  • entry level digital technology and employability skills.

Foundation Skills Training Package qualifications may not be listed as an entry requirement for vocational qualifications.

This is a Part Time Day Face to Face course. You will need to attend approximately 4.5 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 18 weeks As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 16 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, Students are encouraged to make use of all opportunities at home, in the workplace and in the community to develop and consolidate their LLN skills eg

? Watching television/DVD/movie
? Reading magazines, brochures, leaflets
? Practising skills at home
? Practising skills at work
? Volunteering in a situation that will involve use of LLN and digital skills


This course offering is designed for people who:

  • May have left school early or for whom English is a second language. It focuses on building skills in reading, writing, computing for further study. The course includes introductory first aid.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday from 9.30am to 2.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.


This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
