Course Details

This qualification is designed for individuals who require further foundation skills development to prepare for workforce entry or vocational training pathways.

This qualification is suitable for individuals who require:

  • A pathway to employment or vocational training
  • Reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3
  • Entry level digital literacy and employability skills
  • A vocational training and employment plan.

It is assumed that you have literacy and numeracy at Certificate I level for success in this course. Contact your TAFE NSW campus if you have any questions about your suitability.

To successfully complete this course, you will need: - to have the underpinning knowledge and skills. The recommended entry point against the Australian Core Skills Framework is ACSF 2.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a Full Time course. You will need to attend approximately 16 hours of class, 3 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 14 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including self-initiated learning, eg. reading the newspaper, assessment preparation, community needs engagement.

  • require english language proficiencies for access to further training and community participation. Existing workers may require additional foundation skills to be able to participate in workplace training, satisfactorily perform their workplace duties or apply for promotional positions.

This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday from 9 am to 3pm and Thursday from 9 am to 2.30 pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
