Course Details

This qualification is designed for job roles in the forest operations sector of the forest and forest products industry.

Job roles

This qualification has eight employment pathways for typical forest operations environments. These are:

  • Arboriculture Supervisor
  • Farm Forestry Supervisor
  • Forestry Supervisor
  • Forestry Operations Supervisor
  • Harvesting Supervisor
  • Harvesting Team Leader
  • Propagation and Stand Health Supervisor
  • Tree Farm Supervisor

Licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements may apply to units in this qualification in some states & territories at the time of publication and may differ according to jurisdiction.

Some imported units in the elective bank may be subject to licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements. These units must be implemented in line with the licensing requirements outlined in the units parent Training Package.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full time blended delivery course. You will need to complete approximately 4 hours of study, over 1 day a month for 83 weeks. Students attend face to face and/or blended theory session and practical demonstration with the teacher monthly. Correspondence with the teacher is required via phone and email.

You may also be required to complete approximately 8 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including learning through employment in the industry. Students required to undertake unstructured learning on theory and practical components within the workplace should continue until assessment.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

Students will be contacted by the Forestry Industry Training Centre to confirm they are employed fulltime in the forestry industry. Students attend a Face to Face and/or Blended theory session and practical demonstration with the teacher monthly. Students required to undertake unstructured learning on theory and practical components within the workplace between theory and practical demonstration sessions until assessments. Correspondence with trainer is required via phone and email.
