Course Details

The Bachelor of Property Valuation is a three year professional degree that prepares graduates to work as a valuer in a wide range of property sectors, both private and public residential, commercial and public sectors, both in Australia and overseas. The Bachelor of Valuation is Australia's only specialist property valuation degree and has been developed with the support of professional valuation companies the Office of the NSW Valuer General, the NSW Office of Fair Trading and the Australian Property Institute.

The degree focuses on the skills required for working professionally as a property valuer while ensuring graduates have a thorough understanding of the principles that underpin the realisation of valuation concepts, including background and preparation for a number of specialised areas of valuation practice. The course includes interaction with industry experts, site visits and field trips to enhance the practical learning experience.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

Applicants are required to hold, at minimum, one of the following to be considered eligible for admission:

  • a NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent OR
  • a recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate OR
  • a qualification from a Registered Training Organisation at Certificate IV level or above OR
  • the completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution.

Applicants who have not studied mathematics at NSW Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) level will be asked to complete a diagnostic test. If you do not display a sufficient level of mathematical attainment, you will need to complete a recognised bridging program before starting the course.

In addition to the minimum eligibility requirements all applicants are required to submit a 500 word essay and attend a pre-admission interview. The essay topic that you must address is: In your own words, describe the role and responsibilities of a property valuer. Tell us about your career goals and aspirations as a property valuation professional.

International applicants must meet proof of eligibility and course entry requirements. In addition, international applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency at a minimum IELTS level of 6.5 with a minimum level of 6 in any one band. If you do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements for this course, you may be able to apply for entry into this course based on mature age or disadvantage. Contact the course coordinator for details of evidence that you should attach to your application.

If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID 19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. In addition to tuition fees, there may be additional resource and/or field trip fees to undertake this course. Students may also be required to purchase textbooks for each subject they are enrolled in.
