Course Details

The Bachelor of Property Valuation is a professional degree that prepares graduates to work as a valuer in a wide range of property sectors, both private and public residential, commercial and public sectors, both in Australia and overseas. The Bachelor of Property Valuation is Australia's only specialist property valuation degree and has been developed with the support of professional valuation companies the Office of the NSW Valuer General, the NSW Office of Fair Trading and the Australian Property Institute.
The degree focuses on the skills required for working professionally as a property valuer while ensuring graduates have a thorough understanding of the principles that underpin the realisation of valuation concepts, including background and preparation for a number of specialised areas of valuation practice. The course includes interaction with industry experts, site visits and field trips to enhance the practical learning experience.
This course requires the completion of 24 subjects with full time students typically enrolling in four subjects per semester.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

Applicants are required to hold, at minimum, one of the following to be considered eligible for admission:

  • a NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent OR
  • a recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate OR
  • a qualification from a Registered Training Organisation at Certificate IV level or above OR
  • the completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent study at university or accredited higher education institution.

Applicants who have not studied mathematics at NSW Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) level will be asked to complete a diagnostic test. If you do not display a sufficient level of mathematical attainment, you will need to complete a recognised bridging program before starting the course.

In addition to the minimum eligibility requirements all applicants are required to submit a 500 word essay and attend a pre-admission interview. The essay topic that you must address is: In your own words, describe the role and responsibilities of a property valuer. Tell us about your career goals and aspirations as a property valuation professional.

International applicants must meet proof of eligibility and course entry requirements. In addition, international applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency at a minimum IELTS level of 6.5 with a minimum level of 6 in any one band. The way you learn may change during your enrolment to ensure the best learning experience or to keep you safe as COVID-19 restrictions change, and some of our face to face classes may change to online or virtual classroom learning. Also, to ensure that we keep you safe while studying, we may modify our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

You will be required to attend 16 hours of classes each week for 12 weeks, followed by a 3 week exam and assessment period. A timetable will be distributed at the time of enrolment.
