Work placement

Work placement provides you with learning opportunities that can't be replicated in the classroom. It gives you valuable, real world experience and the opportunity to make industry connections.

  • During your course, you'll undertake a mandatory 400 hours of work placement.

  • TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement in consultation with you.

  • Please note: Depending on your work placement, you may be required to show proof of vaccination and health screenings (including proof of COVID-19 vaccinations).

Additional entry requirements

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • To be eligible for admission you must submit evidence of at least ONE of the following entry requirements, certified by a Justice of the Peace:

    • NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent
    • Recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate
    • Certificate IV level or higher vocational qualification
    • Completion of at least one year full-time study or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution
  • Work Placement is a requirement of this course. You will need to complete:

    • two Fields of Practice subjects that integrate academic learning with application in the workplace.
  • CSSAP102A Fields of Practice I requires the completion of 200 hours of work placement in first year plus CSSAP305A Fields of Practice II requires the completion of 200 hours in third year, totalling 400 hours.

      Course delivery Studying Online

      Choose when and where you study. Set your own pace, with all your study materials online, allowing you to manage your own workload. Access your learning management system 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a highly collaborative space that involves more than simply reading and consuming.

      You will interact creatively with content, teachers and your peers, improving your overall engagement with the course. Teaching staff are available to provide you with support, enabling you meet your course outcomes.

      You may need to attend a vocational placement, on campus assessment and/or a teacher might need to observe and assess you in a real or simulated environment. Online courses require access to a computer with an internet connection.
