Course Details

The Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning (Professional Practice) is designed for people currently practising as financial planners who hold a degree or higher qualification in a finance field. The course meets the FASEA educational requirements for financial advisers in accordance with the requirements of the Corporations Amendment (Professional Standards of Advisers) Act 2017. The course also addresses the Code of Ethics for Financial Planners.
Students must complete four compulsory subjects covering behavioural finance, applied financial advice, commercial and corporations law and ethics and professional standards for financial advisers.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To enter this course you must be currently practicing as a financial planner or adviser and hold a degree or higher qualification in a related field.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
International applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements. In addition, international applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency at a minimum IELTS level of 6.5 with a minimum level of 6 in any band.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

Course entry requirements are working in industry or undergraduate degree in any discipline.

STUDY COMMITMENT

Students have a choice to attend classes from Monday Thursdays from 6.00pm -9.00pm either online or at our Ultimo campus. Each subject is completed over a maximum 12 week period, and students should set aside a minimum of 6 hours per week to meet the study commitment.


This is a post graduate course and is available to existing financial advisers only, please see our Graduate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Commerce (Financial Planning) courses as an alternative.

This post graduate degree has been designed in conjunction with industry experts and meets the new FASEA financial planning education qualifications. The course consists of 4 subjects and includes the 3 bridging subjects required by FASEA, plus a capstone Applied Financial Advice unit. Existing financial advisers can complete either 1 or more subjects each semester at our Ultimo campus or fully supported online - you may be entitled to RPL for the Applied Financial Advice unit and complete the qualification even faster.

The way you learn may change during your enrolment to ensure the best learning experience or to keep you safe as COVID-19 restrictions change, and some of our face to face classes may change to online or virtual classroom learning. Also, to ensure that we keep you safe while studying, we may modify our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday - Thursday 6:00pm to 9:00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

DOMESTIC STUDENTS

The 2021 fees are calculated at $2,200 per 10 credit point subject. Students must successfully complete 4 subjects to obtain this qualification. TAFE NSW Higher Education tuition fees are subject to change.
