Bachelor of Creative Practice-teaching pedagogies
The Bachelor of Creative Practice facilitates learning in two modes: face-to-face in the studio context, and through ‘facilitated’ distance learning using an online learning platform.
The studio has a long history and fundamental role in creative practice, as a mode of learning where students and teachers interact in a creative and reflexive process, as a culture or creative community created by students and teachers who work together over extended periods of time, as a program of structured content that enables ‘learning in action’, and as a physical space in which teaching and learning take place. Accordingly, students on the Bachelor of Creative Practice programs have access to physical studios where they are able to produce cultural objects in their chosen creative discipline.
Students will participate in face-to-face studio-based learning for the Studio Techniques and Tools and Creative Concepts and Process strands. Studio sessions will be available through scheduled weekly sessions for students attending the Diploma and Bachelor programs locally, or via intensive teaching blocks designed to facilitate learning for students living further away from the course delivery sites.
This course is made up of core subjects. Successfully complete 24 core subjects to achieve this qualification. Full time students enrol in four subjects each semester – two practical, studio based subjects and two online theory subjects. Part time students enrol in two subjects each semester – one practical, studio based subject and one online theory subject.
