This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday from 9.30am to 1.30pm and Thursday from 9.30am to 12.30pm via Skype online delivery. Six additional face-to-face on-campus clinical skill workshops will be held on a Monday throughout the course

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

Work Placement is a requirement of this course. You will need to complete:
-Students will be required to complete the total of 120hours of mandatory full time (Monday to Friday) unpaid Work placement (minimum 80 hours acute care facility and 40 hours in another care facility) organised by TAFE NSW in collaboration with NSW Health or other health care providers, and may include morning and afternoon shifts. The cost of a National Criminal Record Check and immunisations must also be met by the student.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 Units of competency, including 15 core and 0 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
