Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • Work placement is mandatory for completion of this course. 120 hours of work placement is arranged in fulltime weeks by TAFE NSW with NSW Health. Immunisation/ vaccination as per NSW Health policy is mandatory. Student placements may be arranged from both Illawarra and Southern Health districts (Coledale to Bega). Travel and accommodation are at students own cost.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • This is a blended online MS Team delivery with six additional on campus clinical skills sessions and mandatory full time work placement 120 hours. Theory classes are delivered via the MS Teams platform by a Teacher where students can access online and interact live from home or campus just like a real classroom. Please not this is not a face to face theory course. Technology to support blended delivery is required.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 Units of competency, including 15 core and 0 speciality units.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
