The nationally recognised Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Occupational Therapy) builds the knowledge you need to work in the industry. Help to treat patients recover and improve the everyday skills needed for daily living and working through the therapeutic use of activities.

COURSE SUCCESS REQUIREMENTS

During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements to complete your coursework.

You need to meet the following requirements to be able to undertake work placement. Your teacher will let you know when you need to provide evidence of:

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • National Police Check
  • Vaccination and health screenings
  • Any additional evidence your work placement provider requires

Work placement with NSW Health

If your work placement is with NSW Health you must also:

  • Sign the NSW Health Code of Conduct and any other forms
  • Complete mandatory online modules
  • Take an occupational assessment and provide your health care worker/student vaccination record

WORK PLACEMENT

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations that cannot be replicated in a simulated environment.
Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning in the workplace.

During your course you will undertake a mandatory 120 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

You are responsible for arranging your work placement. Our team can offer support and guidance to assist you.

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course you will need:

  • To demonstrate skills in some various practical assessments. This may involve participating in roleplays which may be video recorded and the video submitted for marking.
  • Adult colleagues, friends or family members who are available and willing to participate in assessment role plays that are recorded and submitted for marking.
  • Recording equipment such as a camera or smart phone.
  • Access to Zoom or Microsoft Teams to be able to attend the live teaching and group virtual practical sessions.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a self paced, online course. You must attend approximately 10 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 5 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.

The course will run for 2 years.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
