Course Details

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to develop basic programming skills in the most commonly used programming languages.

An individual with this qualification could work as an assistant programmer in a team of software developers, or as a support programmer to senior programmers or systems analysts.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

  • very good knowledge of software applications such as Word Processing and Spreadsheets
  • very good communication skills.
  • familiarity with business functions including some understanding of Programming.
  • above-average typing skills.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • completion of Certificate III in Informaiton, Digital Media & Tecnolgy course or equivalent.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time evening blended course. You will need to attend approximately 9 hours of class, over 3 to 4 days a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 6.5 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent study, research, practice and assignments preparation, Lynda.Com videos, reading books, attending tutorial sessions.

This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 06:00pm to 09:00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
