Course Details

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to manage, as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team, the installation of a range of networks, including internetworking, security and e-business integration.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.

A range of criteria apply for course fees and to access government subsidised training.

Remember, TAFE NSW provides a range of easy and flexible payment options for students or a nominated third party (If a nominated third party is covering the cost of your fees, a letter of authority or purchase order will be required).

Students can pay their fee upfront, pay off their student fees in instalments or take out a VET Student Loan. This study now, pay later option is a student loan scheme funded by the Commonwealth Government.

When your enrolment is complete, and you have paid the applicable fees, you will be entitled to attend class, participate in training, sit for examinations, receive educational awards, use amenities and services and receive an active TAFEcard (which provides access to library resources).

In addition to your course fee, there may be some additional charges to cover the costs of undertaking this training.

Costs associated with work experience and field trips such as food, transport and accommodation are at the students own expense.

This qualification covers switch and routing, Microsoft Server and desktop, Linux, scripting and professional skills.

There are no formal prerequisites for individuals to participate in this course or individual units of competency.

It is recommended that students have completed the qualification ICT40415 in Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking or have demonstrated and documented industry experience that would place a student at the same competency level of an individual who has completed ICT40415 Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking.

Students also need to plan for approximately 10 hours per week for additional study and activities.

This qualification has become superseded across Australia and an updated version will soon be available. This means that we may continue to deliver the old qualification for 12 months from the date of change. Students enrolling must complete the qualification by the transition date or will be transitioned to the new qualification. Transitioning to a new qualification will not result in financial penalty.
