Course Details

This qualification is suitable for people who work in the maritime industry as a Chief Engineer on vessels with propulsion power up to 3000 kW in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

A message for young people under 17 years of age - If you are under 17 years and wish to enrol you will need to have completed Year 10 or have special permission from school and TAFE NSW to do so.
Classes are currently scheduled to run on Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm.

This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your fees. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.

Students can pay their fee upfront, pay off their student fees in line with the census dates or take out a VET Student Loan. This study now, pay later option is a student loan scheme funded by the Commonwealth Government.

A 20% loan fee applies for VET Student Loans when enrolling in this qualification.

If your employer is covering the cost of your fees, a letter of authority or purchase order is required.

A VET Student Loan is available for the Diploma qualification fee only. Any additional Units of Competency undertaken by the learner should be paid upfront by the learner before commencement. Please seek advice and clarification from the teaching section before committing to the enrolment.

When your enrolment is complete, and you have paid the applicable fees, you will be entitled to attend class, participate in training, sit for examinations, receive educational awards, use amenities and services and receive an active TAFEcard (which provides access to library resources).

There may be some additional charges to cover the costs of undertaking this training.

Costs associated with work experience and field trips such as food, transport and accommodation are at the student?s own expense.
