Course Details
This qualification applies to employees in aviation maintenance workshops who are required to perform repair and overhaul tasks on a limited range of aircraft electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic components, or who perform simple repairs on a limited range of structural components.
This is a fully government-subsidised JobTrainer course. Eligibility criteria applies.
Units of competency that comprise this qualification are a mix of common units that apply to all technical employment streams covered by the MEA Aeroskills Training Package (core units) and technical stream units that are specific to a technical employment stream (elective units).
The qualification provides significant credits towards higher level Aeroskills Certificates.
This qualification applies to workplaces that operate under the airworthiness regulatory systems of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Any regulatory/licensing requirements associated with any MEA units of competency must be met.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a fulltime, face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 14 hours of class, over 5 days a week, for 1 year.
You may also be required to complete approximately 5.9 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours.

For learners that have little or no experience in the Aviation industry. Learners of this cohort are keen to learn about the aviation industry. Learners are undertaking this qualification to determine their career pathways within the industry. In some instances, learners may be School Based Trainees working for an aviation maintenance organisation.

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID-19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled on Monday to Thursday from 8.00am to 3.00pm and Friday from 8.00am to 12.00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
You will need to provide personal stationary to undertake the course including calculators, PPE including safety boots, cotton drill work wear, safety glasses, earmuffs, masks and hard hats.
