Work placement

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

    • an apprentice (you will work in industry and study at the same time)
    • employed full time
    • signed up with an Apprentice Network Provider and have a Training Plan Proposal
    • seeking to gain skills and knowledge to become a qualified Engineering Tradesperson - Mechanical after successful completion
  • All participants will be required to supply their own personal protective equipment and clothing:

    • Safety glasses Clear lens.
    • All clothing worn must be cotton – no synthetics, and should be washed before wearing to remove any solvents from dry cleaning.
    • Students must wear appropriate safety footwear.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 96 units of competency, including 33 core and 63 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.

The Mudgee campus delivers a broad range of certificate level general education and trade programs in aged care, children's services, disability work, community services, hospitality, construction, English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL), numeracy and literacy.
