This hands-on course is ideal for apprentices who work as boilermakers and welders in mining, manufacturing or shipping. According to the Australian Government Job Outlook platform, the number of structural steel and welding trades workers is expected to grow to 82,700 by 2023, with around 47,000 further job openings over 5 years.
This course is superseded by MEM30398. You can still enrol in this course, and you will be contacted if you need to transition into the next version when it is available.

Time: 9.00am to 12.00pm
Location: TAFE NSW Deniliquin, Block J
This is a face to face part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 24 hours of class, over 3 consecutive days every 3 weeks, for 3 years.
Block Release is a rotation of 3 days training approximately every 3 weeks for 10 blocks per year. Attendance will be discussed with the apprentice and employer and a timetable.
You may also be required to complete approximately 16 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including content review and assessment preparation.

This course is currently scheduled for Block Release on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.00am - 4.30pm in Block J Welding Workshop. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

Before you can start an apprenticeship, you first need to find an employer in the industry you're interested in that will support you through your studies. You and your employer should contact an Apprenticeship Network Provider (ANP) and tell them you're interested in studying at TAFE NSW.
The ANP will help you and your employer to complete a Training Contract. Once you have a Training Contract, we will help you, your employer and the ANP to complete a Training Plan Proposal. Once you have both these documents, the ANP will lodge them with State Training Services, who will provide further advice about next steps.
