STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a variable, combination course. You must attend approximately 10 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 5-10 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.

This course is delivered through a combination of self paced online learning and timetabled tutorial support. Online and face to face (class) tutorial support, is available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with day and night tutorials, 9am to 8pm.
Attendance at Newcastle campus is only required when students need this support or when a test/assessment is required to be completed on campus. The timing of this can be negotiated with the individual learner.

The course will run for 1 year.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

  • Access to a computer that can run Microsoft Office 365, AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Printing and scanning, and internet access
  • Scientific Calculator and technical drawing equipment (drawing pencils, compass, protractor, set squares etc.)
  • Text books required are: - Engineering Drawing 8th Edition, Boundy A.W, ISBN-13: 978-007101583-7, ISBN-10: 007101583-3 - Mathematics for Technicians 7th Edition, Alldis B. & Kelly V., ISBN-13: 978-174307077-2, ISBN-10: 174307077-2 Estimated Cost for Text books $200 - technical books either borrowed from the TAFE library or purchased.
