Course Details
The nationally accredited Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology is a hands-on course for fashion design assistants and beginners in the evolving fashion industry. You will learn your craft in a simulated fashion studio environment and focus on mastering the basics of design, patternmaking and sewing.

- To use a sewing machine and overlocker
- Basic patternmaking and pattern modification
- To use a pattern to cut fabric

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a self paced, online course. You must commit to 9 hours study per week. You may also be required to complete approximately 1 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
You will need to provide for yourself the following resources to be able to undertake this qualification:
- Domestic sewing machine and overlocker, a suitable workspace and chair, scissors, sewing thread, and iron. Access to a computer, camera (most phone cameras are suitable) to take photographs of your work to upload to the online Moodle platform.
- Students will need to have their own basic materials including a range of pencils, coloured media such as paints, and coloured pencils. Sufficient drive space for storage of digital files. Depending on projects, students will need to purchase supplementary items such as fabrics and accessories to create fashion garments.
