The qualification aligns to an adaptation, for sign languages, of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), A2: Basic User.
This is an Auslan signer who can:
- understand sentences and frequently-used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment)
- communicate about simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters
- describe in simple terms aspects of his or her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
The volume of learning for a Certificate II is typically 0.5 to 1 year.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
You will develop your ability to give and receive simple information in Auslan in personal, learning, employment, social and community contexts. Certificate II in Auslan provides you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge of Auslan structure and sign names in conversation, in a culturally appropriate way.
While there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, TAFE NSW conditions of entry to this course are: commitment to attend and the ability to work independently.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
This course in funded under Smart and Skilled - depending on individual circumstances, concessions or exemptions may apply.
