This is a part time evening, blended course. You will need to attend approximately 8.5 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 38 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5.7 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including reading journals, watching LinkedIn Learning tutorials and research


This course offering is designed for people who:

  • Are seeking long-term career goals in the public sector with the Certificate IV in Government generalist qualification. This qualification covers the competencies required for working without supervision in the public sector and prepares you to work in an environment where there is a diverse range of responsibilities. This qualification is valued across all levels of the public sector and within non-government agencies delivering government funded services and support.

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
