Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

Materials needed

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

    • Learner will be provided with all basic floristry plant material and tools for practical sessions at TAFE. However, it is recommended that students bring their own floristry tools to classes.
    • Learners are required to wear closed shoes with a sensible heel height.
    • Gloves can be worn when working on mechanics for designs.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have:

    • achieved the Certificate III in Floristry via an Australian Apprenticeship Pathway; OR
    • demonstrated floristry industry experience in applying the skills and knowledge in the Certificate III in Floristry. This is achieved via: providing a portfolio of evidence outlining how the skills and knowledge gained in the Certificate III in Floristry have been applied in an industry context; OR 12 months post qualification industry experience.
  • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • To complete successfully all assessments in each Unit of Compentency.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Floristry qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 Units of competency, including 6 core and 6 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
