Course Details

Make your mark as a qualified beautician with the nationally accredited Certificate III in Beauty Services. You will learn a wide range of beauty disciplines including make-up, nails, waxing and brows and develop your ability to consult confidently with clients in a salon environment.

INDUSTRY DEMAND

The Australian beauty industry is worth billions of dollars and has experienced a decade of uninterrupted growth. Currently there is an identified skills shortage of qualified Beauty Therapists with the industry forecast to continue steady growth to 2023.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

WORK PLACEMENT

Work experience provides you with?exposure to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment.

Work experience is not mandatory for this qualification; however, this is a highly practical course. We strongly recommend you undertake 72 hours of work experience with a suitable industry employer to get the most out of your study, expand your network and get real world experience.

Should you choose to complete the nominated 72 hours in industry, you will need to arrange work placement with a suitable employer. Your teachers will arrange an appointment with you to provide more information.

If you are unable to secure work placement with an industry partner, you will be required to complete 72 hours of clinic work in a simulated workplace environment. This will occur at your campus location during normal class times on a day nominated by your teaching section.

Whether you are enrolled full-time or part-time, it is recommended that you start your work placement one week from your course start date.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course:
Students will be working in close proximity (personal space) to other students and clients. This requires trust and effective communication to accomplish in all aspects of the course. Students need to feel comfortable in performing treatments and receiving treatments to all areas of the body as a reflection of what industry/businesses provide in the workplace.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 16 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 6 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, research, assignment preparation and self directed independent learning.

We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID 19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.30am to 5.00pm. Initial delivery will be online via connected learning sessions. Specific information will be provided to students upon enrolment.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
