ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

Local level entry requirements are identified at an ACFS level 3 for this qualification. As part of your enrolment, you will be required to attend a compulsory information session where you will be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy screen to determine whether you meet the entry requirements or need additional LLN support or may need to enrol into an alternative pathway.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • to provide services on paying clients and may also need to provide models for some of your practical classes and assessments. You must comply with Work Health & Safety requirements for classes, including wearing closed in protective footwear and clothing that is clean and professional for the industry.

Work placement requirements:

  • Work placement is not compulsory, however it is highly recommended. Learners enrolled in this course are encouraged to complete work placement with a host employer as part of their training program. Work placement is designed to enrich the learning, compliment the formal training and enable an easier transition into the industry once the course is completed. Clinic sessions can be completed as work placement with a host employer that has been approved by the teaching section. Learners not participating in work placement with a host employer, will be required to participate in scheduled clinic sessions at TAFE, providing services on paying clients.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part-time evening, blended delivery course. You will need to attend approximately 9 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 4 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including online revision, assignment and elective preparation, and research.

  • would like to work as a Make-up Artist in settings such as freelance in make-up studios, beauty salons, retail cosmetic counters, fashion and media sets and photography studios. You will develop skills and knowledge to perform a range of services across the beauty, fashion, media and entertainment industries.

The way you learn may change during your enrolment to ensure the best learning experience or to keep you safe as COVID-19 restrictions change, and some of our face to face classes may change to online or virtual classroom learning. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

  • Equipment/tools of trade and personal protective equipment (PPE) at an approximate cost of $580 - $650, which you will keep as your own to use in class. You will provided with information on options to purchase a uniform at orientation.
