Traineeship
TAFE NSW also offers the Certificate III in Nail Technology as a traineeship. To be eligible to enrol as a trainee you must:

  • Be employed in the nail technology industry as this course is delivered in the workplace

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

There are no training package entry requirements for this qualification, however it is recommended if you have questions or concerns to chat to the section prior to enrolling.

Part of your course is delivered via Microsoft Teams in an Internet Connected Delivery format. Your learning resources and assessments are also provided online using the Moodle platform. Therefore, you will need access to a personal computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone and reliable internet connection. You are welcome to use the TAFE NSW Library services network for this.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • to attend all classes, complete all class and unsupervised activities, assessment activities, and teacher directed task.
  • to work on clients and be prepared to have treatments done yourself. You will be required to supply models for assessments and practice.

Work Placement:
Full time students are not required to do additional work placement hours. It is expected that students find a salon and complete some unsupervised hours in a salon to master skills. This can help get part time work and lead to employment at the end of the course.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 17 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 10 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including online revision, private study and assignment preparation.

The way you learn may change during your enrolment to ensure the best learning experience or to keep you safe as COVID-19 restrictions change, and some of our face to face classes may change to online or virtual classroom learning. Also, to ensure that we keep you safe while studying, we may modify our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled Monday 9.00am to 4.30pm, Tuesday 9.00am to 11.00am, Thursday from 9.00am to 4.30pm and Friday 1.30pm to 5.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

You will need to purchase specialist equipment in order to develop your skills outside of scheduled class times prior to starting class. Detailed Student Equipment Lists will be provided at the orientation session or first day of class, along with suggested industry suppliers. The cost for specialist equipment for this course is approx. $600 which you will retain on completion of your training. Students are also required to wear closed in protective footwear and plain black pants or black skirt below the knee. You will need to purchase a uniform at $50 from TAFE NSW Beauty Section.
