Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of barbers who use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of barbering services to clients. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their own work.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a barber in any industry environment, usually a barber shop or salon.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:
Students are required to compete a screening process with section staff, prior to enrolling. This will ensure that students are suitable and capable to complete the program. Once enrolled students will attend information (orientation session) and are required to purchase personal equipment kit prior to starting prior to commencement of classes. There are no training package entry requirements for this qualification, however it is recommended that the completion of Certificate II Salon Assistant or equivalent is complete prior to enrolling.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:
Students need to attend all classes, complete all class and unsupervised activities, assessment activities, and teacher directed task. In addition, you will be required to work on clients and be prepared to have treatments done yourself. You will be required to supply models for assessments and practice.

Full time students are not required to do additional work placement hours. It is expected that students find a salon and complete some unsupervised hours in a salon to master skills. This may help students to gain part time work and lead to employment at the end of the course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Part-Time Blended course. You will need to attend approximately23.9 hours of class, over 3 days a week for 1 year. You may also be required to complete approximately 7.5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including online revision, private study, assignment preparation.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.

Payment of course fee must be made PRIOR to commencement of learning activity.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:
Students must purchase the Certificate 3 Barbering kit, total cost of $700.00. This kit includes;
American Crew Text, Manequin Heads/ Nape or Strip and Uniform.

Students are to supply their own cutting equipment/kit.
