    • All applicants need to have some ongoing work in the industry to support their studies in this qualification. This work can be part time or even volunteer work in a barber shop

Materials needed

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

  • There is essential equipment required for the qualification. Information will be available at the information session and first day of class and will cost approximately $850.00 from a supplier of your choice. The essential equipment becomes your physical property and you will be able to retain these on completion of your training.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have:

    • Are 21 years of age or over. Proof of age required.
    • Evidence of an ongoing work in the industry. This must be given to the head teacher at the time of interview. This evidence must be a letter from the barber shop owner stating that on going work is being undertaken by the applicant and will continue throughout their studies.
    • Evidence of some previous industry experience or training such as a Certificate II in Salon Services, or an introductory course into barbering.
  • All applicants must attend an interview with the Head Teacher Prior to enrolment as there are some conditions to enrolment in this full time non- apprenticeship course.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Barbering qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 26 units of competency, including 21 core and 5 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
