Course Details

This qualification reflects the role of frontline retail team members who use a defined and limited range of operational skills to undertake workplace activities. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision of others.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including specialty retailers, supermarkets, department stores and quick service restaurants.

Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as frontline team member, customer service assistant and point-of-sale operator.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

To successfully complete this course, you will need to demonstrate practical components of the course either in a retail work environment or in a simulated retail environment at TAFE NSW Tamworth Campus. Learners will need a USB and a recording device (mobile phone).

To successfully complete this course, work placement is not compulsory however is highly recommended in a pharmacy.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a blended part time course. You will need to attend approximately 19.3 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 18 weeks.

You may also be required to complete approximately 1.3 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours.

This course offering is designed for learners who are Job seekers, Aboriginal people, mature aged, seeking employment or reskilling in general retail. Learners will have little or no retail industry experience or knowledge. Learners will be aspiring to work in a variety of retail industry areas, which may include; food or general retailers, automotive industry, supermarkets.

This course is currently scheduled at TAFE NSW Coonabarabran Campus, Connected Learning Centre on Monday and Tuesday 9:00 am till 3:30pm and Wednesday from 9:00 am till 1pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
