Course Details
The nationally recognised Certificate IV in Retail Management will provide you with the skills to manage your own retail store. You will learn to train and supervise staff, carry out difficult financial duties and manage inventory. Pursue your passion by gaining the tools to succeed.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this course, you need to demonstrate the following:
- That you have achieved a Certificate III in Retail and can provide your transcript or
- Relevant industry employment experience, as evidenced by a cover letter and resume
Traineeship
TAFE NSW also offers the Certificate IV in Retail Management as a traineeship. In addition to meeting the above requirements, trainees must:
- Be employed in the retail industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
- Have a signed traineeship contract

WORK PLACEMENT
Work placement provides you with opportunities to practise responding to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
Traineeship students will not need to undertake work placement as their employment will provide on-the-job experience.
Non-trainees will need to be in either relevant employment or will be provided access to simulated workplace environments to complete the learning and assessment requirements.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a part time, combination course. You must attend approximately 4 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 6 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.
The course will run 1 days a week for 1 year.
This course is offered by Virtual Classroom. This is just like a regular classroom, but teachers and students use the latest video conferencing technologies.
Your teacher can be in one TAFE location, and you can join the class from another TAFE location using video conferencing equipment or a mobile device. You can also join in from a venue in a participating regional community. You will be able to see and talk to your teacher and other students as though they were in the room with you. You will also have access to support to meet your learning needs.

The way you learn may change during your enrolment to ensure the best learning experience or to keep you safe as COVID-19 restrictions change, and some of our face to face classes may change to online or virtual classroom learning. Also, to ensure that we keep you safe while studying, we may modify our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday with morning classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
