Course Details

Combine your love of sport with skills in administration and management through the nationally recognised Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management.

Youll gain the broad range of capabilities needed to successfully manage a sports centre, with a focus on maintaining a functional and safe place so people can enjoy and benefit from physical exercise. Develop your abilities in:

  • Equipment maintenance
  • Ensuring safety of staff and patrons
  • Marketing and branding
  • Finances and budgets
  • Administration
  • Using technology
  • Being aware of changes in fitness, health and sport
  • Workplace health and safety

Our sports-industry professionals will teach you everything you need to know about providing leadership for your staff, patrons and local communities.

Completion of the Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management can lead to employment opportunities in businesses such as a gyms, aquatic centres, and indoor or outdoor sports centres.

Possible associated job titles include:

  • Facility Manager

  • Sports Program Officer

A background in sports coaching or outdoor recreation will be advantageous. You may be able to study this course online with the support of experienced industry professionals.

This is a Part Time Day Face to face course. You will need to attend approximately 6 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 1 year. You may also be required to complete approximately 5.5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Preparing for Assessments, Student research/self-directed learning.

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan (VSL). If you meet the VSL eligibility and academic suitability requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee.
