This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills and basic industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafs, and coffee shops.
Possible job titles include:
- bar attendant
- cafe attendant
- catering assistant
- food and beverage attendant
- front office assistant
- porter
- room attendant.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are over 17 years of age to meet Liquor and Gaming requirements to sell and provide alcoholic beverages. This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. It provides options for specialisation in areas such as accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming. The qualification also allows an outcome for small businesses requiring multi-skilled employees.
To successfully complete this course, there are no mandatory work placement hours. However students are encouraged to seek work placement during the course.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a Face to Face Part Time course. You will need to attend approximately 13.1 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 6 months.
You may also be required to complete approximately 8.4 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including work experience, research and private study.

Students will generally be new to the workforce or current employers wishing to seek qualification for their existing skills.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
A course related charge of $80 is applicable for course materials. There is also a Liquor and Gaming Competency Card license fee of $125 for RSA and RCG. The fees need to be paid at the time of enrolment. The fees consist of:

- $40 Provide Responsible Gambling Services Competency Card
